General Questions
A: Bliss is a scanlation group that donates their time to bring you high quality manga and translations. Though our main focus is Boy's Love, we also scanlate works of the shounen and fantasy genres.
A: Boy's Love, or BL generally refers to romantic relationships between homosexual men. Yaoi refers to boy's love manga that and focuses more on the physical/sexual side. Hard Yaoi consists of very little plot, and is compromised of sexually explicit scenes (PWP = Plot, what plot?). Shounen-ai deals with boy's love that has little or no sexually explicit scenes at all, focusing mostly on plot and romantic relationships.
A: You can e-mail us at Bliss.Scanlations{at}gmail.com, use our Contact Form, or contact one of the ops in the IRC channel at #Bliss@irchighway.net. When you are in our channel, contact someone with a ! in front of their nick. Leave a question with your e-mail if they do not respond.
Q: How can I tell which releases are non-BL?
A: On the projects page, projects will be separated by Red borders and Blue borders. Red indicates that a certain project is Boy's Love. Blue indicates it is non Boy's Love. Please note that any project outlined in blue may fall into a number of genres. We are not responsible in any way if you do not read our FAQ. Do not send us flame e-mails or spam us because you fail to pay attention.
A: E-mail us with the position that you're interested in, and we'll send you a test as soon as possible. Be sure to read about the position on the Hiring page before you apply.
Q: Why don't you release faster?
A: Because we're doing this for free. Maybe if you join we'll get things out faster.
Q: When are you going to release the next chapter of XXXX?
A: The answer: whenever we feel like it. DO NOT ask us this question on IRC, in comments, etc., because it will just make us mad and release even slower than before =). Instead of bugging us, try offering to help us out so that you'll get to see it sooner.
Q: Can you release XXXX manga?
A: That depends... If you can find someone to translate it, then we'll definitely take it into consideration. All manga must be scanned yourself - we will not use raws that you found from other sources. Chinese raws help also.
Q: Why have you dropped XXXX project?
- It was licensed by a US company. If you want to keep reading, then buy the manga.
- We lost interest in the project. We may decide to finish it if you show your support.
- Another group is working on it or finished it.
Questions Other Groups Might Ask
Q: Can we rescanlate your work into another language?
A: You're certainly free to base your works off our translations (no e-mail permission necessary), but DO NOT re-edit on our scans. We bought it ourselves, and so should you. If you use our translations, credit (link to our website) is appreciated, but not necessary.
Q: Can we have a joint with you on one of your current or future projects?
A: That depends on the project, but most of the time we'd be glad to. Just e-mail us or contact either Kurokagami or Kinky in the IRC channel.
A: Well, if it wasn't on your future projects page, then there's no way we could have known that you were working on it. Nevertheless, we're friendly people, and joints are always welcome.
Q: Will you stop scanlating this project? It is on our future project list.
A: We always try very hard to avoid conflicts with other groups, but it's possible that we may have missed your group. Feel free to approach us with your concerns, and we'll try to work it out to the best of our abilities.
Q: Can we host your releases on our website?
A: The answer will usually be yes, given a few conditions.
- Link back to http://bliss.diamond-virgin.net on your website.
- Zip filenames must have [Bliss] attached.
- Credits and inserts must be left in the zip file.
- When a project is licensed, you MUST remove the files from your servers.
- When a project is joint with another group, you must follow their rules for distribution. It will never hurt to ask us if you're not sure.
- Websites hosting any licensed material CANNOT host our files.
- DO NOT charge money from people downloading any of our files that you are hosting.
- DO NOT direct link!! Either use your own server or host links.
Questions About Releases
Q: Where can I get your releases?
A: All projects are available for direct download on the day of the release. Check out the project pages to download them. Another option is to visit our IRC channel - that way, you can thank the people who worked on the releases in person.
Q: I can't find releases in your IRC channel.
A: You obviously didn't look hard enough. There are always nice fservs around with a release, and the !s should have them as well. Now thanks to Leha, we also have an archive bot ([BLiss] Seme) and a new releases bot ([BLiss] Uke), so that's not an excuse anymore.
Q: Can you please send me your releases directly or through email?
A: No.
Q: Why am I banned from your channel?
A: You probably broke one of our channel rules. If you think you were unfairly banned, PM a #Bliss op, or let us know by e-mail.
By downloading/hosting/reading our releases, you agree to have read and understood the following:
This website contains some materials meant for mature audiences only. As such, if you are not of legal viewing age in your country, or if you consider homosexual related contents to be offensive, please do not download releases of the yaoi or hard yaoi genres.
Bliss is a non-profit scanlation group that works to scanlate different types of genres for manga loving fans. Our scanlations are therefore for private use only and NOT FOR SALE in any way, shape, or form. When a series is licensed in the US, you must STOP DISTRIBUTION IMMEDIATELY.
